禁忌，也称为“不宜”“不相宜”，其表现为与机体不相宜、与饮食不相宜、与药物不相宜、与疾病不相宜，一般为禁、忌、慎三者的总称。药物禁忌，即介绍药物与上述多方面的不宜或不相宜。如何安全、有效、合理地使用药物，使药物发挥它自身的最佳疗效，最大限度地避免可能发生的不良反应，尤其是避免因盲目或滥用药物而导致的药源性疾病和医疗事故，是全社会尤其是医药工作者必须研究与关注的问题。我们在1995年编著出版了《日常用药禁忌400例》一书，当时引起了广大同行的极大关注和积极反应，被誉为国内首部合理用药著作，当年即被广东省新华书店评为最畅销的40种书籍之一，屡次重印，销量相当可观。时隔15年，我们共收集了1 540种（例）药物禁忌信息，并分成《西药服用禁忌》《中药服用禁忌》《联合用药禁忌》三个分册出版，希望能够更多地帮助人们增强日常安全、有效、合理用药的意识，以减少因药物使用不当带来的危害，并为医务人员临床用药提供指导。
