尺寸标注是绘制图形过程中的重要步骤，所绘制机件的真实大小将以图样上标注的尺寸数值为依据。尤其在绘制工程图时，单一的图形文件只能表达所绘制零部件的结构、形状以及装配关系等信息，只有为图形文件添加准确、清晰的尺寸标注，才能反映出该图形所表达零部什的真实大小及装配零件之间的位置关系。
在使川SolidWorks 2008进行设计时，由于空间中的几何体具有一定的外型和大小，因此需要对几何体进行约束或限制。这样，有关尺寸标注的单位、标注类型及操作方法，都需要读者了解并熟练掌握。
2.4.1 标注线性尺寸
不论哪一种类型的尺寸标注，其标注的原则都是以鼠标左键选取图元，移动剑合适的位置后，再次单击鼠标，即可标注该尺寸。一般来说，标注线性尺寸时使用频率最高的是尺寸类型。
线性尺寸标注包括：单一直线长度、两平行线的间距、两点间的距离、点到线的距离、直线到圆的距离，直线与弧的距离等。按照尺寸标注的方式，我们可以将其分为两种，分别是水平标注和竖直标注。
