你的名字我曾仰望，但我将在无名的国度寂寞度日，在末日的黄昏游荡。渡海者啊，留下骨头、灰烬、妈祖或十字架，泪水与海水划开盐和蔗糖的苦路。所幸有个书写者，她写理想的失落，人亵渎神的荣耀，迷路的亚当，伤心的夏娃，际遇的鬼祟，愤怒的愤怒，无知的无知，念珠咒语与救赎。廖氏花叶执说人间就是苦，苦才是人间。冰冷无男人气味的床，被欢迎的是梦魇，油火的阴影，吐出子宫的蠕动婴孩，譬如朝露，去日苦多，游离的故事，没有湛蓝的海洋呼唤，没有紫丁香爬满的围篱，只有墨水还记得记忆它。
西螺老街给予虎妹童年的抚慰，她常没有鞋子可穿地赤着脚，徒步从二仑乡行至西螺老街，一个小小孩，怀抱着什么样的梦想，赤脚徒步一个小时来到有着巴洛克氛围的镇上老街。也许，她只为了看一眼美丽房子里住着什么人，或者卖什么东西。长成少女的她，没有嫁到镇上。成为少妇的她的眼中世界依然是无尽的苦力与劳力所串连成的日与夜，刺眼的风沙，刺痛她心的鄙视目光。虎妹决定离开这里，南方的十字，穿行腥红的西螺大桥，她头也不回地往北而去。她的世界跟着晚风逐渐辽阔起来，她甚至看见火金姑闪烁着性交的愉悦尾火。虎妹逐渐遗忘了童年时在这座开通大典的大桥上受到七爷八爷的惊吓与嚎哭，她天真地以为离开南方即是远离贫穷，她曾去车衣服，曾加入工潮，盖高速公路，此刻她已是孩子的母亲了。穿行一夜的岛屿，仍是木麻黄省道绵延前方，一车的孩子等着在南北的流浪里长出心智与建立日后爱恨的存在。
