故事，发生在1921年的北平。
老年间，北平的古玩铺子分好几种，比如家喻户晓的琉璃厂海王村，是全国最大的古玩销售场所，南北荟萃、山珍海宝无所不有。
那当儿，古玩铺子跟现代商业的分工细作一样，并不是每个店里都聚集着一堆金铜佛像、古玉珍瓷、古书古画、丝质绣品、宝石翡翠的。
而是各有千秋，各有绝活儿。
扳指记
这个故事说的是清朝光绪年间，具体哪一年，太久远，记不住了。
说的是山东临清州，有个人叫刘安生。他爹，是原先临清的一个武官，做到把总。
临清嘛，是大运河出河北之后的第一个重要码头，在康乾盛世那当儿，这里是商铺林立，五行八作秦楼楚馆遍布林立，就是远在江南一带的大商人，也得到这里来做买卖，端的是个花花世界，被称为“小南京”。
无论是康熙爷六下江南，还是乾隆爷南巡六次，都是打这里停靠御舟。因此，各衙门和街面上，建筑也是干净严整。
可后来白莲教大起义，加上江南闹长毛、北方闹捻子，大清国国事日衰，朝纲不振，曾文正公横空出世，带领胡林翼、左宗棠、李鸿章诸位大人，使了九牛二虎之力，才算平定长毛及之后的捻军起义，气息奄奄的大清国，才又延续下去。
佛头记
民国五年（1916年），正是袁大总统在他那个不成器的大儿子和一群蝇营狗苟的马屁精们鼓噪劝进，雄心勃勃闹腾着要登基称帝，重登大宝，君临天下的时候。
北平城里被这些大大小小狗屁颠上赶着劝进的官员们闹得天翻地覆，轰轰烈烈，不仅政事堂里不少人成天聒噪，军警宪特和文官们中那些希图富贵荣华的马屁官儿更是欢天喜地，大把的银圆和钞票撒出去，组织了各行各业的人，什么妓女劝进团、叫花子劝进团、洋车夫劝进团，成天在大街小巷嚷嚷着马屁文人们写的那些狗屁不通的文章，叫嚣什么共和不利于中国啦，什
么君主是中国的传统啦，什么大英帝国和日本帝国之所以富强，是因为有国王和皇上啦。

爷爷的爷爷在老年间是开当铺的。
在老年间，古玩、当铺不分家。
因此，爷爷积累了很多关于古玩的传奇小故事，小时候，听他讲过不少，其中奇奇怪怪光怪陆离的甚多。
为此，我把每个故事都大概记载了下来，现在，说给大家听听。
您要是问我这些事是真是假，各位，实话说，我也不知道。
但是，老年间北京有句俗话——有些事您可以不信，但不能不敬……
一
故事，发生在1921年的北平。
老年间，北平的古玩铺子分好几种，比如家喻户晓的琉璃厂海王村，是全国最大的古玩销售场所，南北荟萃、山珍海宝无所不有。
那当儿，古玩铺子跟现代商业的分工细作一样，并不是每个店里都聚集着一堆金铜佛像、古玉珍瓷、古书古画、丝质绣品、宝石翡翠的。
而是各有千秋，各有绝活儿。
从琉璃厂东口一进去，您瞧，分门别类就开始了，有专门经营宋版、明版古书的，有专门经营宋元明清各种古画的，有专卖古玉、宋明瓷器的，有专卖传世丝织锦绣的，还有专营文房四宝、古墨古砚的，有专卖历代铜钱古币的。
这些珍宝荟萃的场所，都叫坐店，门脸儿端庄大气，无论掌柜还是伙计，绝不是饭馆小吃店那种吆喝吵嚷大声喧哗的样子。
都是正正经经的，掌柜的基本是一身整齐的大褂、坎肩和双道梁的内联升布鞋，带着水晶石的眼镜，伙计们也都穿着浆洗过的干干净净的大褂子，脸干手净，扎着裤脚，一脸不亢不卑的文雅气质。
大栅栏，跟这里又不一样了，大栅栏很多珠宝店也兼着买卖古玩，但是只限于古代珠宝首饰和玉器，其他的不能乱买卖，牛街不少掌柜的，就在大栅栏开买卖，也是清真铺子。
像隆福寺和火神庙等地方，那更不同，都是大地摊，那当儿，老北京的文化人，也喜欢去那儿淘宝。
大地摊属于半坐商半行商，不论哪个犄角旮旯里，花个三瓜两枣的价格，收来一大堆破烂货，在地下铺上一张大凉席或是粗布，也不分类，就开始做买卖。
有吆喝的，也有不吆喝的，反正淘到淘不到好东西，都是靠您自己眼力。
在一堆破铜烂铁里找到自己心仪的古玩古董，连不少琉璃厂的老先生们，也凑趣儿去捡漏淘宝。
还有一种，则是打小鼓收旧货的，这种人更多，今天变成了收破烂的，但是，破烂跟破烂可不同。
打小鼓的，多是穷人家子弟或者没有学成的古玩学徒，必须得脸皮厚、心黑、人机灵。
这种人走东串西，但凡是京城哪个大宅门、富豪和贵族家庭，那自然是进不去的，有一种中等人家，家里有个不懂行的主人，缺了钱花或者要搬家、分家，就把老宅子里的东西卖一卖。那么老些东西，古玩就算不上，可还有点年头，于是乎，打小鼓的就应运而生了。
另外，有些原本的富豪大家，现而今败落了，家里有些存货，可本家儿又不愿意去古玩铺抛头露脸，嫌丢人，就卖给打小鼓的。
这种打小鼓的，叫富小鼓。
这种人很黑，三瓜两枣买了人家东西，自己二五眼看不懂，再跑到琉璃厂或大栅栏的古玩珠宝铺子里，转手卖给那里，从中赚几个小钱。还得求爷爷告奶奶地赔着小心。生怕大掌柜的看不上眼。
另外有一种，就是北京老百姓，家里大扫除或者修房子，发现什么用不着的瓷器、木器，就叫来打小鼓的拉拉价钱，卖几个酱油醋钱。
这种打小鼓的，叫穷小鼓。
打小鼓的货物，也有交流，在定点的野茶馆或是小酒馆，要几碗茶叶末或烧酒，互相串货，互相交流。
那些大户人家还有去当铺，去荷花市场，去鬼市儿的，咱们以后再说。
遇上年节，琉璃厂海王村不少商家，连上大栅栏的珠宝店，不少也去摆摊设点，丰富古都文化生活，卖不卖倒在其次。
那位问了，卖古玩还这么多讲究？
您说呢？五千年文化历史熏陶出来的国人，买卖老祖宗的东西，能都像买白菜萝卜似的？

这下您对于京都的古玩买卖略有了解了吧？
也就是说，当时的古玩买卖，有——
1.琉璃厂古玩铺
2.大栅栏珠宝店（只限于兼卖古代珠宝首饰玉器）
3.木器行（兼卖古代家具）
4.旧货铺（兼卖古旧杂项）
5.隆福寺火神庙的集市（大地摊）
6.打小鼓的（收旧货）
7.当铺，后文再说
8.荷花市场、东安市场的小地摊
9.鬼市儿
那么说，有人问了——这么多卖家，不乱套吗？
还真不乱。
这大致分的九种分类，基本都是种种有联系，但种种客户和买卖方式、待人接物和付款方式绝然不同，壁垒分明，而做买卖的，在那个年代，也绝不会越俎代庖的胡乱买卖。锵行市！
1921年春天，北平还是一片风沙，呼啦啦从古北口内蒙古来的风卷着黄沙尘土，就把个古都搅得日月无光。
这时候，正是军阀大战，各路英豪们铆足了劲儿，在华北地区打得天翻地覆，古玩行的买卖很不好做。
这话当然，盛世藏古董，乱世买黄金嘛，一堆古董也顶不了一个窝头——最起码在你快饿死的时候。
这天，东四牌楼炒面胡同里发生了一件恐怖传说，立即传遍了四九城，成了京城老少爷们茶余饭后的谈资。
什么事？
原来，京城里赫赫有名的四大流氓无赖之一，东霸天黑四爷，人送外号黑大蛤蟆的家里，闹鬼了！
四霸天这四位爷，自光绪年间就开始在京师横行霸道、无恶不作。
这几位，都是刀头舔血杀出来的狠角儿！年轻时候，什么杀人越货的事没干过，那位被慈禧太后下旨千刀万剐的大盗丘八爷，就是这老几位的江湖兄弟。
然而，人家这老几位，在打拼下京城这一亩三分地之后，慢慢稳定下来，开始大肆招收徒子徒孙，扩大声势，每人手里少说也有三百多号人马，端的是无人敢惹。
要说他们砍杀出山头，然后平静地在荣华富贵里混吃等死，那是胡扯，人家都有功夫在身，宝刀未老嘛！
这老几位，把四九城分成四大块，每块是谁的地盘分得清清楚楚。这叫分盘子。
一般人眼里，四霸天不过收收街道保护费，青楼的、饭馆的，在地面上勾结官府包揽词讼、欺诈良民等，不过，这都是台面上的事。
这些人，暗中贩卖鸦片烟土、逼良为娼、挖坟盗墓、设宝局子赌场坑害世家子弟、贩卖有姿色的寡妇、少女、偷人家孩子卖，还有的竟然跟洋人们关系很好，把壮丁卖给洋人做奴隶，运到东南亚和非洲干活，这一去，您就别想回来喽。
四霸天每人都是罪行累累，十恶不赦，头顶长疮、脚底流脓的第一等流氓无赖。
更加奇怪的是，无论是大清国负责京城治安的九门提督步军统领衙门，还是民国初年的京师警察总署和宪兵司令部，没人问也没人敢管，任由这几位欺男霸女，每年作恶的进项，所获巨万。
没啥原因，就是四霸天根子硬呗！
那位爷问了——怎么只有东西南北四霸天，还有红中呢！
呸！您这是打麻将入迷了。
且不说，退位的小皇上宣统万岁爷还在紫禁城里住着，就是皇城里面，民国中央各大衙门，也是威严赫赫。轮不到四个地痞流氓进来胡闹。
所以说——这就是当年混江湖的规矩，人再坏，人家有底线。
且说这位东霸天黑四爷，外号黑大蛤蟆，在四霸天中，最是心狠手辣好勇斗狠，出了名的不要命。少年时在沧州拜名师学艺十年，练成一身十三太保横练的硬功，身上嘎达肉（肌肉）一块块好似铜浇铁铸，身材不满五尺，臂力惊人，尤其一套罗汉拳，打起来那叫一个眼花缭乱虎虎生风。老师喜爱他实诚，教了他一手铁砂掌，又叫单张开碑手，二尺厚的石碑，抬手就碎，又学了套金甲刀法。
这身功夫，三五十个人，绝近不了他的身。
可惜，黑大蛤蟆的老师看走了眼，教的武德被他抛在一边，二十六岁从送水夫开始，在众人里喝酒打架无恶不作，三年间，不仅收服了四百多个大小混混儿，还在光绪末年比武中，单掌劈死了原来的东霸天白老爷子，成了新一任的东城霸主。
为啥别人叫他黑大蛤蟆？
说来奇怪，他是白洋淀人，幼年时水下功夫就很好，而且，此人长得矮壮敦实，扫帚眉毛肉包子眼，黄灿灿的络腮胡子，蒜头鼻子大盆嘴，鼻孔外翻，往那一站，活脱脱一个成了精的大蛤蟆。
连京城小孩子晚上哭闹，老家儿吓唬孩子都说——别哭了，再不睡，让黑大蛤蟆把你吃了！
您别说，这么一来，这位黑四爷的威名更加远扬，他本人也毫不在意，认为自己是蛤蟆精转世，跟张之洞张中堂是猴子精转世、曾文正公是黑蛇转世一样，有天命在身。于是乎，在他四十岁“大寿”之际，他授意徒子徒孙们，用纯金打了一只重达二十斤的金蛤蟆作为寿礼，摆在客厅正堂上，接受大家的叩拜。
民国政局混乱，黑四爷很有头脑，不仅拜了京师治安首脑的海大将军为干爷爷，还拜了京师警察总监尔大人为干爹。
每年三节两寿，金银财宝不必说，这二位干爷爷、干爹，也很照顾这位孙子、儿子，连其他三霸天，也得让黑四爷几分。
然而，人无千日好，花无百日红，这不，到了1921年春天，黑四爷家里，出事喽。
