吴建华，博士，现任广东商学院·旅游学院教授、硕士生导师。2006年度中国会展业十大会展理论人物；2007年度中国会展业十大会展理论人物。近年在会展研究方面，发表《会展研究“共同体”的挑战与智慧——谈谈会展理论与实践的“对话关系”》等论文十余篇；主持完成中国会展经济蓝皮书子课题、广州市开发区委托等课题8项。
肖璇，广东商学院·旅游学院讲师，曾作为交换生在法国E．M．Lvon学校学习，主编的专业英语教材有《现代酒店英语实务教程》、《酒店英语简易教程》与广东省酒店等级英语考试培训教材《酒店职业英语（初级）》、《酒店职业英语（基础级）》等。

第一章招展Exhibition Invitation
第一节会展的定义和分类Definition and Classification ofMICE
国际上经常用MICE来表示会展业，这个词是由会议（Meetings）、奖励旅游（Incentives）、专业会议（Conventions）和展览会（Exhibitions）或活动（Events）的首字母缩略而成。本书将其分为两部分，分别是会议（Convention，Meeting或Conference）和展览（Exhibition）或活动（Event）。
一、会议的分类Classification of Meeting
根据会议的目的、参加者及内容的不同，会议又可以细分为以下几种类型：
（1）大会（Assembly）．某个协会、俱乐部、组织或公司举办的正式全体会议，通常在固定的时间和地点举行，并且有一定的会议程序。
（2）年会（Convention）：就某一特定的议题展开讨论的聚会，多数为周期性的（如每年一次），通常包括一次全体会议（General Session）和几个分组会议（Session）。
（3）专门会议（Conference）：与年会近似，不过C0nvention常用于贸易界，而Conference常用于科技界。
（4）代表会议（Congress）：在某种专业、文化、宗教或其他领域方面之定期会议，与年会近似；但它常被用来指立法机构，如在美国指美国国会。Congress通常会有一特定主题（Subject）来讨论，而报告者及讨论者多为其领域的成员或协助团体的人士，通常为期数天，且有分组会议（Session）。
（5）论坛（Forum）．反复深入地讨论特定专题的会议。通常由一位会议主席（Moderator）主持，与会者就各种各样的问题举行讨论。会上通常有两个或两个以上的发言人向听众进行阐述，然后进行反复的讨论，最后由会议主席来做结论。
（6）专题学术讨论会（Symposium）：由某一领域内的专家构成的集会。专家们就某一特定主题发表论文，并进行讨论交流，与Forum近似。
（7）研讨会（Seminar）：一群专长不同但具有共同兴趣的专家，为达到训练或学习、交流的目的举行的会议。一般有一位主持人（Discussion Leader）进行协调，规模比ForumSll Symposium小一些。
