本书是出生世家却一生甘为书生、因《世界通史》闻名于世实则醉心于中国史研究的历史学家周一良先生的传记，本书包括三部分内容：毕竟是书生、钻石婚杂忆和郊叟曝言，以*为平实的语言，回忆了他在二十世纪不平凡的人生经历。书中还记录了周一良先生与陈寅恪、吴晗、吴于廑、杨联陞等众位师友的交往和情谊，是一部*为难得的时代记忆。

Author Description

周一良（1913—2001），字太初，安徽东至人，中国历史学家。8岁入塾，习经、史、子书，后习日文、英文。1935年毕业于燕京大学历史系。1936年经陈寅恪推*至中央研究院历史语言研究所任助理研究员。1939年入美国哈佛大学习日本语言文学和梵文。1944年获哈佛博士学位。1944—1946年任哈佛大学日语教员。1946年回国并任教于燕京大学。1947年任教于清华大学。1952年院系调整后任教于北京大学。主要研究领域为魏晋南北朝史、日本史、亚洲史，在敦煌学、佛学、中外关系史等方面也有较深的研究，著有《魏晋南北朝史论集》《魏晋南北朝史札记》《魏晋南北朝史论集续编》《唐代密宗》《日本——从史前到现代》，等。
