恩师张孝骞教授谢世一周年之际，我们怀着无限崇敬和怀念的心情，将这本记述他一生业绩的集子奉献给广大读者，以此表示我们对他的缅怀和对他高尚医德的敬崇。自从19世纪60年代第一所西医医院在中国古老的大地上创建以来，中国西医学的发展经历了漫长而曲折的道路。在半殖民地半封建的旧中国，西医院里中国医生屈指可数。20世纪初，我国一批优秀的医学家，以他们的聪明才智和辛勤劳动，进行了开拓性的工作。他们编写中文教材，创办中文学术刊物，培养了大批中国医学生，从而为我国现代医学的发展奠定了基础。在那众多的开拓者之中，张孝骞便是佼佼者之一。他才思敏捷、勤奋好学。他在青年时代，受辛亥革命的影响，抱有工业救国的志向。步入医学之后，刻苦攻读，曾获湘雅医学院两块金牌，取得博士学位。张孝骞一生致力于内科学的临床实践，在内科学领域多有建树。他最早主持在协和医院建立的消化学系，促成了内科学分支学科的专业化。张孝骞精通内科消化系，对于其它领域也广有涉猎。他是-位杰出的临床医学家。

Book Abstract

张孝骞虽然有着较高的工资待遇，但在他的衣物中，却有很大一部分是家里人的手工制品。有一次，他妹妹见他的一条衬裤破得不像样子，要他换一条，他不肯。妹妹火了，当面把那条裤子撕成了碎条。张孝骞感到惋惜，把那撕碎了的裤子拣起来，要老伴给补一补。可裤子撕得一片一片的，无法再补，才不得不重新换了一条。张孝骞从来不进理发馆，头发长了，就让老伴给理一理。一日三餐，有什么就吃什么。三年困难时期，国家照顾的副食品供应，他一般不准家里人去买。从本医院拿点药，他总要规规矩矩地到窗口交上挂号费。他当了学部委员，每月有100块钱的津贴，他执意不受，要将这笔钱退给科学院，当科学院不同意这样做时，他就把这笔钱专折存人银行，直到1966年，他把存折上的13000余元全都上交了。此外，他还用自己6000多元的稿费和编审费购买了图书和杂志，供医院内科的同志学习之用。他坐国家配给他的小卧车上下班，却坚持每月缴纳车费……
常有这样的事：一大群身穿白大褂的医生，跟着张教授到病房去查房，可是，转眼之间，张教授却不见了。原来，他正急匆匆地赶去拧紧一个尚未关严的水龙头，或去关掉一盏白天仍亮着的电灯。这种小小的插曲，往往使他身后的那支庄重的队伍不知所措。事后，有人称赞：“张教授严得连一滴水、一度电也不放过。”也有人摇头：“如此注意小节，简直近乎一种怪癖！”
别人如何议论，张教授是从来不介意的。他生就一副急躁、执拗的性格。不懂得、不了解的东西，他绝不随声附和。碰到了不合理、不称心的事情，他怎么也压不住火气。对一个不勤奋的学生，他会暴跳如雷。对一个不负责任的医生，他会当面训斥。病房里的医生少了，尤其是高年资的医生少了，他不满意。个别临床医生不注意观察病人，病历写得马虎潦草，他甚为恼怒。科研工作不受重视，不为临床服务，医护人员青黄不接，培养人的工作提不到日程上来，有益的意见或建议被踢来踢去，难于得到落实，他感到焦躁不安，忧心如焚。甚至由于某种原因而挤掉了一次查房的时间，他竟会伤心地流下眼泪。
那是20世纪70年代末期，公安交通部门对王府井的交通实行了严格管制，凡无专用通行证的机动车辆，白天一律不准从王府井大街通过。有一天，外单位一辆来接张教授会诊的小卧车，竟从王府井交通警的眼皮底下开过去了。张老感到奇怪，忙问那个司机：“你的车怎么能走王府井呢？”

作为张孝骞教授的学生，我有幸在他的指导下学习、工作了近30年。他在临床医疗、教学工作和医德医风方面对我的影响很深，使我获益匪浅，终生难忘。张孝骞教授给我的最深刻印象是，他具有那种对事业无限热爱，满怀热情，执着追求的精神。他勤奋地工作，以拯救病人的生命和解除患者的痛苦为己任。他博览群书，精深钻研，时刻跟踪着医学发展的最新动态。他不仅重视从书本上获得知识，更重视从实践中获得知识。在临床工作中，他严细成风，擅于用科学的态度对待每-个病例，精琢细磨，反复推敲，然后才提出诊断意见。正像他自己讲的那样，他把每一个病例都看成一个研究课题，从一次又一次的临床实践中认真地总结经验。
