月色倾城。这是上海滩，一座遍地都是传奇的都市。多少人，在这个充满诱惑的人间剧场，一意孤行地导演悲欢。从繁华灿烂，到寂寞黯然，消耗的也不过是数载光阴。时令徙转，浪里浮沉，有些人想要记住却被遗忘，有些人想要遗忘却总会记起。今夜，不知道那场沉睡多年的海上旧梦，又将被哪个行色匆匆的过客唤醒。

不是张爱玲无情，而是千万人当中，她错遇了那个人。胡兰成的背离，让她觉得春水失色，山河换颜；觉得爱是惩罚，是厌倦。所以当她觉知一切无法挽回时，做了一次倾城的转身。而那个自以为是的男子，还认为她会守着那座古老的公寓，为他等到新月变圆。岂不知，衣橱里各式花样的旗袍还在，留声机的老歌还在重复旋转，而人，已放纵天涯。
张爱玲说，爱过之后的心，像被水洗过一样洁净。胡兰成的背弃，确实令她悲戚，可她依旧淡定地说：“倘使我不得不离开你，不会去寻短见，也不会爱别人，我将只是萎谢了。”说这句话的时候，张爱玲的心就是一面深不可测的湖。虽被人投石问路，却宁静平缓，波澜不惊。
此后，是平庸，是惊世，是绚丽，是落魄，都与人无关。那种携手花开，静看日落的烟火爱情，早已不屑。背井离乡，是为了无爱无恨地活着；离群索居，是为了被人无声无息地忘记。所以她后来，没来由地选择和一个年过花甲的异国老者执手相望，亦是值得原谅。并非她不舍得萎谢，而是繁花疏落，需要一个百转千回的过程。
