假如你爱自己的爸爸，请把他装进口袋里；假如你恨自己的爸爸，请把他装进口袋里；假如你烦他讨厌他，就找一张报纸把他盖起来，放进抽屉里。《装在口袋里的爸爸》就是这么一本童话书。现在的童话书的内容分为三种：一种是人和动物（或者纯动物的）的关系，一种是人与人的关系，第三种是纯粹的幻想里的各种关系（也可称为幻想小说）。《装在口袋里的爸爸》就是属于第二种童话，它通过童话的夸张手法，非常真切地反映了一个男人或者说爸爸现实的生存状态。有一句广告语说的好：男人也需要关怀。这本童话无疑是体现对男人关怀的主题的，而且是站在一个孩子的立场。
如何去了解自己的爸爸，如何了解爸爸的心理世界，如何去爱和尊重自己的爸爸，这本童话都有很恰切的答案。杨歌的爸爸是一个普通的男人，就像大多数爸爸一样，他有不平凡的想法，但是在事业上却没有什么突出的成绩，因而，也影响了他在家中的地位。杨歌的妈妈认为杨歌的爸爸没有出息，所以，动不动就讽刺、挖苦和责骂她。这是一种很普遍的家庭现象，几乎每一个孩子或多或少都有这样的体验和人感受。爸爸（男人）的处境很不好，社会的压力，家庭的压力，心理的压力，都给爸爸（男人）带来了沉重的负担。那些抽烟的男人、酗酒的男人、脸上没有笑容的男人，几乎都是种种压力的最直接的表现者。而这个杨歌的爸爸，在杨歌妈妈的骂声中逐渐变成了一个小人，只有1？80厘米。
童话中的夸张手法是不可或缺的，它揭示的是生活中的可能性，也就是说可能发生的事，它多有象征的意义。杨歌的爸爸在杨歌妈妈面前矮三分，因为他不能证明自己是优秀的，所以这种夸张是非常合理的。然而，这并不意味着一个普通的人就没有不平凡的想法，就没有这种能力。因为，一个人的成功往往需要多方面的原因，比如说机遇，运气，等等。世界上许多名人不是一生都一名不文而在死后突然名扬四海的吗？杨歌的爸爸因为变成了小矮人，当然不能继续工作了，可见家庭的遭遇对一个爸爸（男人）的影响是致命的。所以，杨歌的妈妈让杨歌的爸爸全权负责杨歌的教育工作。最形象的说法是，杨歌的爸爸成了这个家庭的保姆，或者说是杨歌的随从。杨歌无论去哪儿，口袋里都装着爸爸。
装在口袋里的爸爸，遭遇了许多在我们看来是非常滑稽而有趣的事。因为太小，所以他被丢失过。杨歌有时候为了逃避爸爸的监督，也曾把睡着的爸爸悄悄放在抽屉里，用报纸盖上。杨歌踢足球，爸爸表现了强烈的好胜心和自尊心。在杨歌的爸爸被小偷偷走的那一章里，又反映了杨歌爸爸的足智多谋、机智灵活的一面，当然，他让一个小偷浪子回头、迷途知返，这是件很了不起的事。这个爸爸是很有善心和爱心的，他给一个患了癌症的小女孩的马戏表演，充分体现了他的仁慈之心。但是，在巨大的诱惑面前，他也曾动摇过。比如说，杨歌捡到一元钱时，爸爸坚定地让儿子把这一元钱交给警察叔叔，而当儿子捡到一万元时，他却主张儿子先带回家里。这是一种巨大的诱惑。这是一个有血有肉的、具体实在的爸爸，我们不会因为他有不优秀的一面而失去对他的敬意。在所有的故事之中，这个爸爸的表现都是优秀的，我们完全可以称他为“一个好男人”。
《装在口袋里的爸爸》并不是表现一个爸爸（男人）的成功的，尽管他也有成功的机会，只是他的性格和优秀的品质决定了他不是一个投机钻营的人，否则他会成为一个名人。这一切的故事也许在现实生活中不可能发生，但是，他具备了那些条件和元素。也就是说，他是一粒饱满、健康的种子，而不是那种根本没有生命力的种子。只要条件适宜，他就能开花结果，做出不平凡的业绩来。对于那些从来都不了解和不理解或者说有点鄙视自己爸爸的孩子来说，这本童话无疑是一个很好的参照。任何一个有着平凡父亲的孩子，在这本童话里都能感受到自己爸爸的影子。从这个意义上说，它又是一本解读父亲和加强两代人沟通情感的童话书。认识这个世界，从自己的爸爸开始，未尝不是一种可行的方式。

“救救我，救救我……”
早晨，我上学的时候，突然听见有个柔弱的声音在呼救。那个声音很奇怪，不是在我的耳边响起，而是在我的脑子里响起。
“爸爸，你有没有听到什么声音？”我问装在口袋里的爸爸——是的，我的爸爸很小，只有拇指那么大。整天待在我的上衣口袋里，当我的“教育部长”。时刻监督我的一举一动。
爸爸没有应答。我又问了好几遍，还是没有人回答。我低头一看，爸爸已经在我的口袋里面睡着了。我看着他睡得又香又甜的样子，暗想：可惜现在没放学，不然我就将爸爸放在课桌里面，用一张草稿纸盖着，我溜到哪里去玩一圈也没人管我。
我又认真听了一下，那个声音再次响起：“救救我，救救我……”
“这不是幻觉吧？”我心想。昨天晚上，看漫画书看得太晚了，没有睡好觉。
“不是幻觉，我就在公园附近的池塘边，他们打我……求你救救我！”那个声音继续哀求道。
什么！光天化日之下，竟然有人敢聚众打人，而且好像还是打女孩子。太不像话了！英雄救美是每一个男孩子天生的职责，这事我不能不管！
我寻声跑去。可是我跑到池塘边的时候，没看见有人挨打，只看见三个大块头的男生在欺负一只癞蛤蟆——他们将它像踢皮球一样用脚尖踢过来踢过去，癞蛤蟆痛得“哇哇”乱叫。
我左看右看上看下看都没有看到向我呼救的人，我自言自语道：“奇怪，人呢？”
“我在这儿……哎哟……我就是你看到的癞蛤蟆！”那癞蛤蟆说道。
“不会吧！”我吓了一大跳，我还以为求救的是个小女孩呢，没想到只是一只浑身长满吓人疙瘩的癞蛤嫫。而我，居然能够听得懂癞蛤蟆说的话！这不可能吧？
“你不会因为我是只癞蛤蟆就不管我了吧？”癞蛤蟆的声音在我的脑海里面再次响起，它的眼神看起来可怜巴巴的。
“当然……不会。”我犹豫了一下说道。
“杨歌，你在说什么？”爸爸在我的口袋里问我。他醒了。
“爸爸，你的大脑里有没有听见一个声音在说话。”我问道。
“大脑里的声音？什么意思？我就听见你在说话。”爸爸回答道。
我沉默了。看来，那声音只有我能听见。
“杨歌，那几个家伙竟然欺负一只癞蛤蟆！”爸爸通过上衣口袋一个硬币那么大的嘹望孔看到了外面正在发生的事情，气愤地说，“要是让以前的我碰见，我绝对不会不管的！”
爸爸以前是个一米八几、五大三粗的壮汉。他曾经两次变小。第一次，是因为挨我妈妈的骂。妈妈骂他一次，他的身体就缩小一些，最后就缩得只有拇指那么大了；第二次，好不容易变回原样的他，因为找工作被人骗了一万多块钱。气得变回了小人儿。
要是以前五大三粗的爸爸在场，那三个欺负癞蛤蟆的男生会被吓得屁滚尿流地跑掉。不过现在嘛，只有拇指那么大的爸爸出场，他的情形估计不会比癞蛤蟆好多少。
“爸爸，你的意思是让我去帮助那只癞蛤蟆？”我问道。虽然我已经大体上答应要帮助癞蛤蟆，但是，我不敢保证他们会不会听我的。万一动起手来，以一抵三，除非有奇迹发生，我不可能是他们的对手——何况，我并不是个强壮的男孩，体育考试还有好几项不达标呢！
爸爸说：“杨歌，我们不能放任别人欺负弱小！不过嘛……”
爸爸的“不过嘛”后面的省略号意味深长，不知道他是怕我吃亏呢，还是看不起癞蛤蟆。
“哎哟……求求你了……他们再踢下去我会死的！”脑中的那个声音再次哀求道。这时，我看见癞蛤蟆被他们踢得飞了起来。在它飞行的过程中，我又看见了它那楚楚可怜、让人心软的眼神。
癞蛤蟆的话让我头皮发麻。我终于鼓足了勇气，朝那三个大男生冲去，喊道：“快住手！”
三个大男生回过头来，我立刻被吓了一大跳，心想：真倒霉，怎么是他们三个家伙？我忍不住有点后悔自己的举动。
这三个家伙，是我们学校有名的“恶三”（即“恶霸三人组”的简称）。体形像铁塔一样又高又壮的那位，叫巨无霸，是三人中的老大。另外两位，一个脑袋剃得溜光像灯泡，叫光头；一个又高又瘦脸上还长着雀斑，叫面条。他们三人平时以欺负低年级学生为乐，大多数同学都怕他们，见到他们全躲着走。
“少管闲事！”巨无霸大声喝道。他们三人玩得正高兴，没工夫理我。
我心里一哆嗦，暗想：“现在是逃跑的机会，不然可能会挨揍！”
爸爸也在口袋里说：“杨歌，快走吧！”
跟他们比，我明显处于弱势——他们随便一个人出来就可以把我打得满地找牙。对这一点。爸爸看得很明白。
我转身欲走，可是，我又看到了那只癞蛤蟆，它被打得四脚朝天仰倒在地上，嘴巴大张着，浑身是血，可怜巴巴地看着我。那神情，似乎我是它唯一的救星，是它在这个世界上独一无二的依靠。
我突然想起昨晚看的超人漫画。我不是一直希望能够成为英雄吗？英雄怎么可以见死不救呢？我应该路见不平拔刀相助才对！
我心中英雄主义的火焰突然被点燃了——虽然它不是美女，只是一只癞蛤蟆！
我再次鼓起勇气，大声说道：“不要欺负小动物！它又没招惹你们，你们为什么要打它？”
“它长得丑，碍着我们了！”而条傲慢地说。
哼，也不撒泡尿照照你自己长什么样。脸上长雀斑不说，两只小眼睛还是对眼！
我说出了一句胆大包天的话：“你们以为自己比它强吗？你们成天欺负人，心灵比它丑多了！”
光头一瞪眼，说道：“小子，你在说谁？”
我心里直哆嗦，但嘴里却逞强道：“说谁谁知道！”
爸爸在我的口袋里面笑了两声：“哈哈，不愧是我儿子！”
我晕！爸爸早不说话，晚不说话，为什么偏偏在这种时候说话，而且说出了如此让人误解的话——“恶三”八成以为是我说的。这不是火上浇油吗？
果然，“恶三”互相对视了一眼，集体发愣了一秒钟，然后将暴怒的目光一齐投向了我。
巨无霸说：“这小子竟然敢占我们的便宜，活得不耐烦了！”
光头说：“太阳打西边出来了，这样的小嘎嘣豆竟然也敢招咱们！”
面条说：“这小屁孩欠揍，扁他！”
“恶三”挥舞着拳头朝我冲了过来。
爸爸在我的口袋里大喊：“杨歌，快跑吧！”
但是，已经来不及了！我的小胳膊小腿迈起步子来比恶三都小，一下子被他们赶上了。巨无霸冲到我面前拦住我，不等我做出任何反应，他就一巴掌朝我扇了过来，嘴里不干不净地骂道：“我要让你看看谁是谁的儿子！”
我躲闪不及，整个身子被他扇得像纸片一样飞了起来。嘭的一声，我重重地摔在了地上，顿时觉得眼冒金星。好不容易眼前的星星都消失了，我抬眼一看，这三个人已经将我团团围住了。
我暗想：他们该不会把我当癞蛤蟆踢吧？
就在“恶三”们的脚尖向我飞过来时，忽然间冒出一个声音：“老师来了！老师来了！”
“老师来了？……撤！”巨无霸挥手说道。另外两个惊慌失措地东张西望。很快，三个坏家伙就溜得不见踪影了——他们毕竟还是在校学生，老师对他们有威慑力。
爸爸自夸地说：“幸好我机灵！哈哈，杨歌，今天我可是救了你一命！”
切！成也萧何，败也萧何，要不是爸爸那句惹祸的话，巨无霸未必会下手这么重。
我摸着依然火辣辣疼的睑颊说：“爸爸，你以后在外面最好不要乱说话！”
这时，癞蛤蟆一蹦一跳地跳到我的面前，我浑身直起鸡皮疙瘩，忍不住向后退了两步。听妈妈说，癞蛤蟆的耳下腺还是皮下腺什么地方满是毒液，要是染上了会恶心呕吐、腹痛腹泻、心律失常，平时对它敬而远之为好。
我摆手对它说：“别……别靠近我！”
癞蛤蟆的眼睛里面划过一丝受伤的神色，我为我自己的以貌取癞蛤蟆感到有些羞愧，不过，它真的是长得很恶心！
癞蛤蟆似乎没有听到我的话，又向前蹦了两下，目不转睛地看着我。
我忍不住再后退了两步，它却又前进了两步。
我汗毛倒竖地问道：“你……到底想干吗？”
这时，癞蛤蟆说出了一句让我大吃一惊的话——
“求求你，亲我一下！”
