Author Description

万巴（1858-1920），意大利著名的儿童文学作家和诗人，原名路易吉·贝特利。他写了很多书，其中最受欢迎的就是《淘气包日记》。这本最初以日记体在报纸上连载的小说，以轻松幽默的笔法描述孩子成长过程中的烦恼，一经刊出就征服了无数孩子与大人，自1920年出版后，在本国再版一百二十多次，被译成三十九种文字，绘成各种画本，并多次被改编成动画片和影视剧，成为西方世界家喻户晓的经典著作。

10月6日

两个星期我都没在日记本上写一个字。自从那天掉到河里，后来又溜下床，出汗着了凉后，我就病倒了。科拉尔托一天来看我两次。他对我这么好，我觉得对不起他，因为那天晚上我把他吓坏了。我的病要过多少天才能好呢？

……

今天上午，我听到阿达和维基妮娅在走廊里说话，当然，我要听听她们说些什么。原来，她们打算在家里举行一场舞会。

维基妮娅说，她高兴极了，因为我躺在床上，这样就不会闹出什么事，舞会一定能成功。她说，她希望我在床上躺一个月。我就不明白，为什么姐姐们不愿让她们最小的弟弟快些好起来……况且，我对维基妮娅那么好……我没病时，每天跑两次邮局，帮她寄信取信。有几次，我把信弄丢了，但我没对她说，她也不知道我把信弄丢了。她没有任何理由对我这样。

我今天终于被允许下床了……让一个像我这样的男孩子，膝上盖着羊毛毯，躺在安乐椅上一动不动，这怎么可能呢？我都要烦死了！在卡泰利娜下楼为我取糖开水的时候，我轻轻地、轻轻地扔掉盖在我膝盖上的东西，跑到露伊莎的房间里，从她的抽屉里翻出一大堆照片看了起来。我的姐姐们正在客厅里同她们的女友罗西小姐聊天。卡泰利娜端着糖水回来，到处找我也没有找到……真有意思！我藏到衣柜里了。

那些照片把我逗死了——一张照片后面写着：“真是一个大傻瓜！”另一张后面写着：“嘿，确实挺可爱！”这张上面写着：“他向我求婚，不过……想得太简单了！”其他的还有：“很热情！”或者“嘴巴长得多难看啊！”有一张后面写着：“一脸驴相！”每一张照片后面都写着这样的话。

我拿走了十几张我熟悉的人的照片。等我能到外面去的时候，我要跟他们开开玩笑。我小心翼翼地关好抽屉，让露伊莎看不出有人动过她的东西……

但是，我不愿意回到我那又脏又乱的房间里，我不想自寻烦恼。突然，我起了一个念头：“装扮成女的怎样？”

我找出一件阿达的旧胸衣，一条浆洗过的白拖裙，从衣柜里取出一件玫瑰色的葛布绣花上衣，穿戴了起来。裙子腰身很紧，而且要用别针扣住。我用玫瑰色的胭脂膏涂在两腮上，照着镜子……“真好看！完全变了样！我变成了一个多么漂亮的小姐啊！姐姐们会多么嫉妒我，多么嫉妒我啊！”我高兴地叫出了声。

说着说着，我走下了楼梯，正好碰到罗西小姐要走。结果可热闹了！

“我的玫瑰红葛布衣服！”露伊莎嚷着，脸气得发白。

罗西小姐拉着我的胳膊，让我转向亮处，用讥讽的口气说道：“你的脸怎么这么漂亮？红红的，嗯，加尼诺？”

露伊莎给我使了一个眼色叫我别说，但我装作没有瞧见她，回答道：“我在抽屉里找到一盒胭脂……”罗西小姐笑了起来，笑得那么狡猾，我都不知道怎么才好了。

后来，姐姐对我说，罗西是个快嘴婆娘，她会到处说我姐姐擦脂抹粉。

我当时打算赶紧回房间，但露伊莎挡住了我。

我不服气地盯着她，扯掉了她衣服上的一根饰带。她发火了，打了我一个嘴巴，“好啊，小姐！你还不知道相片都在我手里呢！”我心里想。

姐姐们以为，男孩子的脸生来就是让人扇耳光的……但她们不知道，当她们这样做时，阴暗和报复的想法就在男孩子们的头脑中产生了。我不做声，好吧……明天再看吧！

10月8日

哈，今天我去找那些送给我姐姐照片的人了，真好玩啊！

我第一个找的是卡洛·内利。他是一个门面漂亮的时装店老板，总是穿着最流行的衣服，喜欢踮脚走路，大概是因为鞋子太窄了。内利一见我进了他的店，就对我说：

“噢！加尼诺，你病好了吗？”

我回答他说好了，接着又一个个地回答了他所有的问题。他送了我一根漂亮的红领带。

我谢了谢他，这是起码的礼貌。既然他开始问我姐姐的事，我认为是时候了，就取出照片。这张照片背后用钢笔写着：“老来俏，我知道他要说些什么。”

他看了自己的照片（就像画上画的），小胡子气得都竖了起来，嘴张得很大，大得都快要连到耳根了，脸涨得像红辣椒。他对我说：“好啊！是你在跟我搞恶作剧？”

我回答他说不是的。这张照片是在我姐姐抽屉里找到的。

说完，我就跑了。因为我看见他的脸色让人害怕，再说，我也不愿意听他啰啰唆唆地耽搁时间，我还要去散发其他照片呢。

接着，我马上跑到皮埃利诺·马西的药店里。

他长得多丑啊！可怜的皮埃利诺长着红红的卷发，脸色蜡黄，脸上尽是坑坑洼洼的。

“你好，皮埃利诺。”我问候他。

“噢，是加尼诺！家里的人都好吗？”他问我。

“都好，大家也问你好。”

这时，他从药架子上取下了一只白色的大玻璃瓶，对我说：“你喜欢吃薄荷片吗？”

还没等我回答，他就抓了一把五颜六色的薄荷片给我。

确实是这样，男孩子有几个可爱的姐姐真是福气，总是能受到小伙子们的注意。

我收起薄荷片，然后取出照片，热情地对他说：“你看看，这是今天早上我在家里找到的。”

“让我看看！”皮埃利诺伸长了手。我不愿无代价地把照片给他，可是，他用力抢了过去，念起照片背面用蓝铅笔写的字：“他想吻我的手，真是笑话！”

皮埃利诺的脸马上像纸一样煞白，我甚至以为他会马上晕过去。但是，他没晕倒，却咬牙切齿地说：

“你姐姐这样愚弄一个好人是可耻的，你懂吗？”

尽管我已经完全懂了他的话，但他为了让我更明白他的意思，就举起腿来做了一个踢足球的动作。我没有理会他，只是抓起一把散在柜台上的薄荷片，飞快地跑出药店，到乌戈·贝利尼那儿去了。

乌戈·贝利尼是一个很年轻的律师，快二十三岁了，同他父亲在一个律师事务所工作。事务所设在维多利亚·埃马努埃莱路十八号。看走路的样子，就知道谁是乌戈了。他走起路来挺胸凸肚，鼻子朝天，可是说起话来声音却很低，好像脸要碰到鞋底似的。

他确实长得很滑稽，姐姐说的是有道理的。我向他打招呼，心里有点儿不忍，因为他是个一本正经的人。

我进了门，对他说：“请问，乌戈·贝利尼在这儿吗？”

他回答我说：“你找他干吗？”

“这里有一张他的照片。”

我把照片递给他，照片背面写着：“像个老头，多滑稽啊！”

乌戈·贝利尼一接过照片，我就回头跑。这么一来效果更强烈，因为当我下楼梯时，就听见了他可怕的吼声：“没教养的！多管闲事！粗鲁！”

啊！要是把今天上午的事都写上的话，我今天晚上连觉都睡不成了！

那些小伙子，当他们看到照片背后的字时，脸色多难看啊！看到他们的种种怪样子，我都要笑破肚皮了。

然而，最可笑的是基诺·维阿尼，当我递给他背面写着“一脸驴相”的照片时，他的样子真让人可怜。他流着眼泪，有气无力地说：“我完了！”

他说得不对，因为，如果他真的完了，那他就不能在房间里走来走去，嘟囔那么一大堆废话了。
