第1章数浪的基本原则
1.1基本模式
1938年，艾略特发表了一篇名为“波浪理论”的文章，他在那篇文章里写道，“大量有关一切人类活动的研究表明，社会一经济的发展进程遵循一定的法则，这一法则使得社会一经济总是以一系列相似的波浪序列模式反复演进，每次循环的波浪数量和模式都一样。而且研究还表明，各浪的波动幅度和持续时间表现出一致的比例关系。”，这段话听起来相当空洞，似乎与市场技术分析师协会（Market Technicians Association）2在其章程中对技术分析所下的定义没什么区别。它对技术分析的定义是：“……研究由市场行为、市场参与者和市场观察者的行为和心理产生的数据。人们用这种方法通过研究过去的数据来预测某一市场、投资或投机未来的价格走势。”

1.1基本模式
与当前主趋同向运行的每一循环都以5浪模式展开，与当前主趋势反向运行的每一循环都以3浪模式展开。这8浪的每一浪都各有特色。在5浪循环中，一般第3浪的气势最强，因此第3浪应该非常容易识别。而且经典的技术动能指标（momentum indicators）和量能指标也有助于识别第3浪。更为重要的是，至少在级别较大的第3浪中，市场价格走势应该得到市场人气（marketsentiment）指标的强势确认。许多分析师、投资者和操盘手都错误地假设公众对市场的判断永远是错的。这显然不对——因为当市场价格在主趋势方向运行最强势的时候正是公众意识到市场转势并积极参与的时候。
在波浪理论中，级别包括时间和价格两个方面。任一给定的驱动浪及其调整浪属同一级别，而5浪循环（five-wave cycle）的子浪要小一个级别。例如，正如在分析市场价格走势的分形特征时所揭示的一样，一个5浪上升循环中与主趋势同向运行的每一个推动浪都能分成5个子浪，这5个子浪是比更大一级的上升浪小一级别的子浪。 ……
