弗吉尼亚·萨提亚（VIRGlNlASATIR，1916-1988），常被称为家庭治疗的先驱，因其在家庭治疗方面的开创性努力而在国际上享有盛名。她深信人们有继续成长、改变、获得新生的能力，毕生致力于改善家庭系统中人与人之间的关系和沟通方式。
萨提亚著有《新家庭如何塑造人》《联合家族治疗》等书，并与他人合著有《萨提亚治疗实录：逐步示范与解析》《萨提亚沟通模式》《直言不讳》《萨提亚模式》等。
约翰·贝曼博士（JOHN BANMEN），国际知名的心理治疗师、教育家，哥伦比亚婚姻和家庭治疗协会的创始主席，美国婚姻家庭治疗协会的前董事，哥伦比亚心理协会前董事，国际家庭治疗协会董事，萨提亚太平洋学院培训总监。

思维的力量
此刻，你已合上了双眼，请体会一下自己的眼睛是如何闭上的。刚才，我的声音给出了一些词汇，而你接受到这些词汇并将它们转换为图像，然后把这个画面发送给了身体，你的眼睛因此而闭上。让我们花一点时间来领会这个小小的动作中所蕴含的重大意义，或许能从中发现它所展示的关于我们自身的一系列可能性：我们能够与自己的肢体亲密接触和联结并做出回应，我们了解那些积极正向的反应是怎么回事，而那些负面反应的背后很有可能也是同样的原理。
现在，请再次与你的身体接触。你是身体的主宰，你发出指令，告诉它该如何待在这把椅子上：如何获取平衡，双脚怎样放在地上，脊柱怎样才会觉得舒适。是你在控制着这一切。
现在，让自己与呼吸接触。对于呼吸，你不必做任何事情，只要允许空气进入就可以了。当空气进入身体以后，就要开始发挥你的作用了。如果身体是放松的，吸人的空气自然就可以去到所有需要它的地方；如果身体是僵硬的，它就会限制吸进来的空气在体内的流通。所以，请引领你自己，让身体放松，要知道放松就是你在休养自己的身体并赋予它力量。放松和呼吸都能增强你的活力。
或许在这个时候，你可以想象自己的呼吸是带着色彩的。在吸气的同时放松身体，观察气息如何沿着你的身体流动，周身的部位随着彩色气流的通过而被点亮，直到身体的每一个角落——脚趾、手指、鼻尖和头顶，也进入所有内脏，并流淌至整个皮肤表面——所有这一切都经由呼吸所提供的氧分而得到滋润。
也许，观察自己呼吸的色彩，或是关注被赋予了色彩的呼吸时，你还可以想出一个比喻来描绘自己的呼吸，使呼吸能够完成它奇妙的工作。也许你想到的是一架小小的飞机，可以把它送往全身各处；或者你可以把它想象成一串美丽的铃铛。不管想到的是什么，只要给你的呼吸、放松和引导一个比喻就行。

Introduction

非常高兴看到又有一批萨提亚的书籍被翻译成中文。2004年，内地翻译出版了《新家庭如何塑造人》、《萨提亚治疗模式》和《萨提亚治疗实录》三本经典的萨提亚模式著作。很多朋友读了以后，都感觉受益匪浅。短短几年之内，随着图书的出版和萨提亚课程的推广，特别是约翰·贝曼博士和玛丽亚·葛莫莉博士在中国举办了很多高品质的萨提亚成长课程和专业训练课，参与学习萨提亚心理治疗课程的学院也越来越多了。受过萨提亚模式专业训练的咨询师、治疗师也越来越多了。
这些都极大地推动了萨提亚模式在内地的发展。
我相信这不是偶然的。一方面，人类都是相通的，另一方面我们中国人一直把家庭放在很重要的位置上，我们的文化是非常重视家庭的。所以我一直认为，萨提亚治疗模式和中国文化在一些有关家庭和人的基本理念上有很多相似的地方，因此很容易被中国人接受。
