时刻保持对自己的控制是我们终生都将面对的挑战，而不仅仅是在应对数学难题或者复杂的声音实验的时候。在我们还是婴幼儿时，我们十分关注个人利益能否立即得到满足，但通过父母的教导，我们学会了不去从玩伴手中抢玩具，不打兄弟姐妹，也不在离开饭只有20分钟的时候吃掉一大盒饼干。在逐渐成熟的过程中，我们调节冲动的能力取得了巨大的进步，但这仍然是一项艰巨的任务，尤其当我们需要做出决定时：谨慎还是大胆？消费还是储蓄？选择我们喜欢的食品还是有利于健康的食品？先瞧瞧电视里正在演些什么还是先弄完手头的工作？
