Book Abstract

另外一方面是心理的因素，本着本能的力量去选择性格上与自己相配且合适的对象。情感上比较注重理智，性格比较呆板的，或许对情感比较丰富，性格活泼的对象好相配，是心理学上的相配作用。
有时是受着过去幼年以来的记忆及感情经验，去选择与曾经喜爱过的类似人物相爱。譬如，跟自己小时暗地里迷恋过的姨妈或女老师类似的女性发生感情；或者跟自己幼年时喜爱过的表哥或叔叔类似的男人发生感情。有时是相反的，去跟自己喜爱过的人全然不同的对象发生感情，潜意识的回避心理上觉得是近亲或乱伦的关系。
有时也会是很单纯的，由于男女俩人有机会接触，经过长久的来往，相互有好感，感情慢慢增长，最终俩人结合也是常见的情况。有时是因为对方有良好的性格，经过欣赏而要好。至于小说里描述的一见钟情，在现实里是危险的事，跟对方的背景及情况都不很熟悉，而马上发生强烈的感情，往往是一种感情的转移，并不是针对本人而萌发的情感。是过分情感冲动或不理智的现象，婚后容易后悔。
过去社会里盛行经过家人包办结婚时，父母常劝告子女说，男女结了婚，生活在一起就会发生感情，因此勉强子女听从父母意见而结婚。可是这种“先结婚，后恋爱”的说法，只能适用于被安排结婚的对象符合某种基本的条件，即外表还可以，性格也不错，这样经过婚后的亲近接触，而逐渐建立感情。可是，假如对方没有这样的基本条件的话，婚后是很难建立起感情的。
（四）彼此的性格是否相配
一对男女会喜欢并选择相同性格或不同性格的对象，过去有不同的看法与主张。从临床上的经验看，大家大致都认为：一对男女的结合要有基本上的相同，这样容易相处，但也要有些差异，而这些差异是可以相互弥补的。比如有相同的文化水平，有相似的人生看法与待人接物的态度，有一些共同的乐趣，都是可以让夫妻容易相处且长期生活在一起的条件。也就是说，聪明的程度，对生活的基本目标与态度最好都相同。
可是，性格或气质上，夫妻俩人可以不必尽是相同，有点差异也无妨。对各种事情的兴趣或做事的方式不尽相同也可以，只要能互相弥补或相助即可。譬如说，夫妻之间一方对事情常按规律地认真做，可是对人际方面的来往却较忽略；而另一方却相反，做事并不那么有计划或专心，但注重人与人之间的来往，重人情喜欢社交，这样俩人在一起就可以取长补短。
夫妻的相配还牵涉到喜欢扮演的角色。有人说，假如男的在家曾是哥哥而女的是妹妹的话，俩人在一起刚好会相配。即，男的喜欢以哥哥的姿态来保护与照顾（妹妹似的）妻子；而妻子会以妹妹似的角色来享受（哥哥似的）丈夫照顾与指导她的关系。这是习于扮演不同角色而能适当地相配的例子。反过来，假如男的在家曾是幼小的弟弟，而女的是大姐，有人就保持姐弟相处的夫妻关系。可是这样以姐弟相配的，有的婚后俩人可能会有适应上的困难。因为丈夫不喜欢妻子常以大姐的身份来管教他；而妻子也看不惯被动且听话、总是像小弟弟似的丈夫。这是不同而又不相配的例子。
