由于朱光潜是以中国传统思想和美学精神为底蕴，以立足本国为我所用的学术立场来接受和消化西方美学和文艺学理论，他的《文艺心理学》虽然包容了大量西方美学的材料和观点，但其所建构的美学却并不是在中国的西方美学，而是现代中国美学，即经过西方文化洗礼的20世纪的中国美学。

Author Description

朱光潜（1897—1986），我国著名美学家。曾任北京大学教授。毕生从事美学教育与研究工作。主要著作有：《文艺心理学》《谈美》《西方美学史》等，主要译著有：黑格尔的《美学》，莱辛的《拉奥孔》等。

近代美学所侧重的问题是：“在美感经验中我们的心理活动是什么样？”至于一般人所喜欢问的“什么样的事物才能算是美”的问题还在其次。这第二个问题也并非不重要，不过要解决它，必先解决第一个问题；因为事物能引起美感经验才能算是美，我们必先知道怎样的经验是美感的，然后才能决定怎样的事物所引起的经验是美感的。
