Author Description

John M. Winslade为加州大学 San Bernardino 分校咨询教育学系的教授。他曾任新西兰 Waikato 大学咨询教育学系的系主任。其主要专长为教学、学校咨询以及婚姻家庭治疗。他对法庭调解也有相当的兴趣及研究。他同时是《叙事治疗的实践：希望的考古学》（Narrative Therapy in Practice: The Archaeology of Hope，1997）的主要编辑与作者之一；与 Gerald Monk合著了《叙事治疗的实践：冲突解决的新途径》（Narrative Mediation: A New Approach to Conflict Resolution，2000）；与 Lorraine Hedtke合著了《与生命重逢：与濒死者及亡者对话》（Remembering Lives: Conversations With the Dying and the Bereaved，2004）。作者曾于新西兰、澳洲、美国、欧洲、中东、加拿大多次举办运用叙事精神进行法庭调解的训练课程。

修复会议的效果
修复会议的效果如何？这个问题的答案取决于会议结束后是否产生了重要改变。不同研究结果显示，修复会议的确产生正向改变，因此，修复实践是值得助人工作者投入的。（这些证据来自于不同国家于校园进行修复会议的小型实验计划。）结果显示，修复会议有效地减少了错误行为的再犯率（Adair＆Dixon，2000;Drewery&Winslade，2005;Mirsky，2003）咨询与训导

影响本章的学说
所有咨询对话都有其原则。在此，对话原则并非一般透过惩罚的手段进行打压，而是避免咨询师的独断与盲点。此对话原则是建构取向，并透过细致的对话技术形塑学生行为及特质。此原则蕴含正向的精神。学生被教导要排队、等待、透过年级建构他们的兴趣与渴望，以教科书所教导的知识认识世界，接受考试评核，并透过这些去认定自己未来的潜能。学校的成绩单执行规范的功能就如同拘留室一般。
即使校园生活的一切在不断细致演化，教育系统的规范功能仍不尽理想。并非人人都适用同一模式。事实上，许多学生徘徊在校园生活边缘。他们并非人生胜利组。他们并不符合学校所想要形塑的未来公民样貌。
探索与不断协商
压抑式的校园规范通常是为了矫正叛逆行为。这可能成为矫正学生符合校园主流论述的过程。咨询若成为参与此一过程的手段，将蕴含压抑的本质。然而，情势不必朝此方向发展。叙事治疗允许多元焦点的存在，并主张透过创造空间允许学生表达他们的渴望，且不落人为施虐行为找借口的陷井中，去探索与不断协商学生与问题的关系。
