Book Abstract

据说选择焦虑的起因，是因为现代社会商品琳琅满目，可选择的东西太多，让人眼花缭乱了。真的只是因为商品太多的问题吗？下面我们拿一个女人买大衣的例子试着讨论一下。小西今年新增了一个课外班，上课的地点不方便开车，要骑车去接送，冬天路上会很冷，小西妈妈一直习惯开车，所以没有比较保暖的衣服，因此，她要在冬季来临之前买一件厚一点儿的大衣。她决定买大衣而不买羽绒服的原因是她还要兼顾美观，她的衣橱已经很满了，为了节省空间，她希望一件衣服能兼顾两个功能。进入商场后，小西妈妈看到各种各样美丽的大衣，着实难以抉择，最终她买了一件薄薄紧身的大衣回家了。等回到家以后，小西妈妈发现她很难在寒冬里穿这件大衣接送孩子，只好再次来到商场重新挑选。
我们来分析一下，小西妈妈最真实的需求是什么？按照最初的原则，保暖、美观、节省空间是她的三个需求。保暖最重要，就是因为考虑保暖的需求她才要去买衣服的，如果美观和节省空间更重要的话，她衣橱里的风衣就可以满足她的需要，不需要再买臃肿的大衣。可是她第一次去选择的结果是什么？一件薄薄紧身的大衣，只满足了美观的需求，既不保暖，也不节省空间（因为还得再去买保暖的衣服）。她设计好兼顾各种需求的计划不但没有成功，连最迫切要解决的需求（保暖）也被抛到九霄云外了。毕竟可供选择的东西太多了，女人又爱美，一时被干扰了也是有的，可是仔细想想她为什么会被干扰，难道不就是因为：其实小西妈妈最在意的就是美不美。
尽管小西妈妈貌似很理智地定了既要保暖又要兼顾美观和节省空间的原则，但看起来她从一开始就根本没在意自己是否会被冻坏，只要能动人就足够了。在小西妈妈的头脑里，原则是必须的、应该的，而她的心却告诉她，保暖的衣服会显得很臃肿，不够美。所以这个声音其实并没有进入到她的脑海里，她带着这三个需求去了商场，虽然这三个需求是她意识里认为应该一次解决的，但实际上她心里早就一清二楚地知道这个目的不可能达到。最后她选择了听从内心的想法买了件只是美观的大衣回家，这才是她真心想要的。这只是一件衣服，买得不对再买一件就好。如果是一个男人呢？女人们期待他又帅又富，还要很爱自己，等到找了一个喜欢四处留情并没有那么爱自己的男人回家时，她们才开始有点醒悟。如果自己最想要的不是帅和富，而是真心爱自己的人，那么这个时候才醒悟会不会太晚？
我们为何很难抉择？并不是因为没的可选，而是因为很多时候我们根本不了解自己内心最真实的需求。我们因为贪心而“理智地”设置了一大堆选择要素，还为此排出了优先次序，结果却刚好漏掉了最重要的内容。面临抉择的困难，很多时候并不是列一个单子分析利弊就能解决的，因为这不是一个简单的四则运算，利弊不是重点，意愿的加权才是最重要的。如果我们不知道我们真实的需要，免不了就会顾此失彼。不真心想做的事情，好处再多也抵不过一个“感觉不对”，即使勉强选了，日后也很可能会后悔。
