《正颌外科》撰写具有以下特点：
1.注重基础理论与临床实践的紧密结合。书中既介绍了正颌外科的基本理论和生物学基础，又详细阐述了外科矫治技术的具体操作步骤和方法。
2.以实用和新颖为出发点，重点介绍临床常用的经典术式和近几年国际上开展的新技术与新方法。对过去由于手术器械和技术水平限制而经口外途径施行的某些手术方法，《正颌外科》不再进行讨论。
3.《正颌外科》以大量图示和病例图片的手段对现代正颌外科的理论和技术，特别对手术设计和实施过程进行了详细介绍和具体描述，以利读者理解和体会。
Author Description

胡静，1963年11月出生于四川乐山。1984年毕业于华西医科大学口腔医学院，1990年在华西医科大学获医学博士学位。1999～2000年在美国匹兹堡大学牙学院及医学中心（UPMC）口腔颌面外科任客座教授。现为四川大学华西口腔医学院口腔颌面外科学教授、博士研究生导师，正颌与颞下颌关节外科中心主任。学术任职主要为国际口腔颌面外科医师会会员、中华口腔医学会口腔颌面外科专委会委员、颞下颌关节紊乱病与袷学专委会委员、中国康复医学会修复重建外科专业委员会委员、全国正颌外科学组副组长；并担任《A sian J Oral Maxillofac surg》、《中国口腔颌面外科》和《中华创伤杂志》（英文版）等杂志编委。专业特长是牙颌面畸形与缺损的外科矫治及面部轮廓整形。有三项科研成果获四川省和卫生部科技进步奖，在国内外权威专业杂志发表论文80余篇，其中18篇被SCI收录，参编《中华口腔科学》、《口腔颌面外科手术学》与《头颈修复重建外科学》等专著6部。2003年人选教育部跨世纪优秀人才计划，2004年成为四川省医疗卫生学术与技术带头人，2005年被评为四川省有突出贡献的优秀专家。
