饮食是人体营养的主要来源，食养不仅为人之三宝“精气神”提供营养基础，也是提高人体抵抗力以防治疾病的重要物质基础。中医学在长期的医疗实践中，积累了丰富的饮食调理经验，形成了独特的饮食调理理论。
那么，人体如何通过饮食营养维护生命的平衡？
总的来说，是从补益和清理两个方面来维护这个平衡。
补：补充营养。
人从生下来，五脏就在不停地消耗，因此需要不停地补充营养，这就是“益”，益就是补充人体的阴阳气血，使其维持生命的平衡。
清：清理生命垃圾。
人的一生在不停地产生垃圾，“损”的目的，就是清除生命垃圾，从而维持气血阴阳的平衡。
总之，人们每天的饮食既要补益，也要清理，才能维持生命的阴阳平衡。
