第一章老年人日常生活禁忌
老年人养生五忌
一忌久坐，久坐者伤肉。坐是消除疲劳的一种必要的休息，但久坐易使肌肉衰退与萎缩。故老人应多参加适合自己的户外活动，加强肌肉锻炼，以增强体质。
二忌久立，久立者伤骨。老年人气血运动全靠动静结合调节平衡，如果一直站立不动，就会影响气血运行，使人体部分组织和细胞营养失调，出现气滞血凝，从而招致疾病。
三忌久视，久视伤血。人到老年，如果久视就会伤血耗气，产生头晕目眩等症。故老年人看报或看电视、电影应控制在一至两小时之内，不宜连续看报，看电影电视。
四忌久卧，久卧伤气。适可而止的睡眠对老年人健康有益，久睡则身体发软。要顺应四时，春夏季晚卧早起，秋季应早卧早起，冬季早卧晚起。
五忌久静，久静伤神。过分安静、寂寞、无聊、孤独的处境，会使老人变得精神不振，性情孤僻，丧失生活信心，导致健康状况下降。另外，优美的音乐使人轻松愉快，精神焕发。故老年人应有适当的声音刺激，以增进身心健康。
老年人过节十二不宜
1．不宜过于劳累。中国人过年节是很累的，打扫卫生、采购年货、迎来送往、走亲访友……常常弄得精疲力尽。老年人大多数患有不同的慢性疾病，这样折腾很容易劳累过度。疲劳可诱发百病，特别是有高血压、冠心病的老人更要注意。
2．不宜暴饮暴食。过春节难免要到亲友家做客，老人千万不要嘴馋，不能暴饮暴食，以免疾病突然发作，造成严重后果。老年人肠胃功能衰退，消化与吸收能力变差。面对节日丰盛的菜肴或主人的盛情劝酒敬酒，要把握好自己的“度”，不贪杯、不饱食，节制饮食，以八分饱为度。
3．不宜着凉感冒。老人由于衰老，身体免疫功能下降易患感冒。感冒虽然不是什么大病，但极易产生各种并发症。肺部感染是老人特别是高龄老人的急症、重症，如不及时治疗或治疗不当，可以危及生命。因此，春节期间老人应特别注意防寒保暖，防止着凉感冒。
4．不宜突然停药。平时患有慢性病的老人，在过节期间要坚持按医生的要求服药，以免病情波动、加重。子女节前要检查一下老人平时服用的药物是否足够吃到节后，如果不够，最好节前到医院请医生开一些备用。在春节期间各大医院的门、急诊都正常开放，如果有病或感觉不舒服，千万不能因春节而忌医在家硬抗。
5．不宜独自外出。春节期间探亲访友的人比较多，车船比平时拥挤，而且春节期间全国绝大部分地方的气候，都不适合老年人特别是高龄老人长时间在户外活动。所以老人过节期间最好不要外出。如果实在要出行，必须精心准备，带上足够衣物和必备药品，最好能有儿孙陪同前往。
