一九八五年，被严禁归国的导演米格尔利廷，经乔装打扮潜入智利，秘密拍摄了长达三万二千二百多米的胶片，记录了他的祖国遭受十二年军事独裁统治的现状。这次地下行动的成果是一部四小时的电影《关于智利的全记录》。

当利廷向马尔克斯叙说他做了什么、是如何做到的时候，马尔克斯意识到在他的电影背后还藏着另一部未被记录的佳作，而它有湮没无闻的风险。就这样，马尔克斯对利廷进行了持续一星期的访谈，根据长达十八个小时的磁带录音，写下了《米格尔在智利的地下行动》。

加西亚.马尔克斯（Gabriel García Márquez），1927年出生于哥伦比亚马格达莱纳海滨小镇阿拉卡塔卡。童年与外祖父母一起生活。1936年随父母迁居苏克雷。1947年考入波哥大国立大学。1948年进入报界。五十年代开始出版文学作品。1967年《百年孤独》问世。1982年获诺贝尔文学奖。1986年出版《米格尔在智利的地下行动》。 2014年4月17日于墨西哥病逝。

智利拉德科航空公司115次航班从巴拉圭首都亚松森起飞，延误了一个多小时，马上就要在智利圣地亚哥机场降落了。左侧，将近七千米的高空中，阿空加瓜山在熠熠的月光下宛若一座钢岬。飞机以吓人的优雅姿态往左偏斜，继而在一阵喑哑的金属噪音中摆正了角度，又袋鼠似的连蹦三次，终于着陆。我，米格尔·利廷，埃尔南和克里斯蒂娜之子，智利电影导演，五千名严禁归国者之一，在流亡海外十二年后，终于再次踏上了祖国的土地，尽管此时此刻，我仍继续在自己的身体里流亡：我的身份是假的，护照是假的，甚至连妻子也是假的。我的面庞和外貌借由化妆和衣着而改变，甚至几天以后，我的生身母亲也没能在白天将我认出。
