2.1.1 Ethernet/802.3网络的关键因素
Ethemet/802.3网络所依靠的技术是基于载波侦听多路访问/冲突检测（CSMA/CD）技术，单播传输，广播传输，多播传输，双工设置，交换端口设置，和MAC地址表管理。我们接下来来复习这些概念。
1.CSMA/CD
系统将以太网信号传送到连接在LAN中的每一台主机，传送时使用一个特殊的规则集来确定哪台工作站可以访问网络。以太网所使用的规则集是基于IEEE载波侦听多路访问/冲突检测（CSMA/CD）技术。“CCNA Exploration：网络基础知识”中曾经介绍过，集线器中常用CSMA/CD进行半双工通信，全双工端口不使用CSMA/CD。
在CSMA/CD接入方法中，要发送报文的所有网络设备必须在发送之前进行侦听。如果设备检
测到来自其他设备的信号，它就会等待特定的时间后再尝试发送。如果没有检测到流量，设备将发送报文。在发送过程中，设备仍会继续侦听LAN中的流量或冲突。报文发送之后，设备将恢复默认侦听模式。
如果设备之间的距离造成一台设备的信号延时，也就是说，另一台设备无法检测到信号，则另一台设备可能也会开始发送。那么，现有两台设备同时在介质中发送信号。报文将在介质中传播，直到相互碰头。此时，双方的信号就会混合，报文被损坏，从而形成冲突。虽然报文已损坏，但剩余信号会混杂在一起继续通过介质传播。
当设备处于侦听模式下，它可以检测到共享介质中何时发生冲突，因为所有设备均可检测到信号振幅的增长高于正常水平。冲突发生时，处于侦听模式的其他设备以及所有正在发送的设备，都会检测到信号振幅的增长。每台正在发送的设备将继续发送，以确保网络上的所有设备都检测到冲突。
检测到冲突之后，发送设备将发出堵塞信号。堵塞信号通知冲突的其他设备，以便它们调用回退算法。回退算法将使所有设备在随机时间内停止发送，以让冲突消除。
