One of the best food things ever made is chocolate

Chocolates are naturally rich in nutrients that are beneficial to human health such as iron, zinc, magnesium and some antioxidants. Over the years, a simple cacao nib has been transformed into a wide variety of chocolate confections that we enjoy now. Aside from a simple chocolate bar, we now have enriched chocolates with nuts, nougat, dried fruits, and what have you.

The addition of other ingredients to make chocolate sweeter, richer in taste, or to give it a unique blend of flavors usually means addition of calories, fats and/or sugars.

So if you’re trying to steer clear from those in your diet, try these chocolate treats instead.

Fujiya ON and OFF Chocolate

Fujiya ON Chocolate

If you’re looking for a low calorie chocolate study-companion kind of snack, this is a perfect choice! The reason why this product is called “ON” is because it was created with students (or anyone who needs to concentrate on work) in mind. Each individually packed bite-sized chocolate with chopped peanuts & a subtle hint of bitterness is enriched with fiber and some essential nutrients which supports brain health. The combination of pure cocoa and nuts keeps the brain active and focused. So, if you want to turn your brain ON, this is the snack to have!

Fujiya OFF Chocolate

If you want a more relaxing chocolate munchies, OFF is your friend. OFF is a GABA-enriched chocolate that is the counterpart of Fujiya’s ON. Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is a “nerve messenger” in the brain that helps reduce stress. The generous amount of almond in these chocolate bites also has unique relaxing properties making it a good addition to this chocolate. I enjoyed this chocolate more than the ON because of its milky taste — but maybe my brain needed that destressing assistance from this snack.

Balance Power Cacao Sand (Baked Wheat Cookies)

If you’re an athlete or simply an active individual, this would be a good pre- or post-workout snack to have. This product is not overwhelmingly sweet, which I like! The crunchy cookies complement the thick layer of chocolate filling. I usually find chocolate on chocolate a tricky mix but this one is surprisingly good! As a bonus, these cookies are packed with nutrients including B-vitamins, calcium, and iron, which are vital for athletic performance.

Teitoshisu Milk Chocolate

This pack comes with individually wrapped chocolate nuggets. They were made with 30% less carbohydrates than regular milk chocolates which means this can be enjoyed by those who are keeping their sugar consumption low. Because of its creamy texture and sweet taste, you wouldn’t even notice it has lesser sugar content than a normal chocolate. Definitely a great treat!

Choco Digestive Cookies

These digestive cookies are enriched with calcium and iron. For someone who has an active lifestyle, this is a good pre-training or pre-workout snack. I personally was surprised by the size of these cookies since they come in in small bite-sizes, way smaller than the digestive cookies that I have been accustomed to. However, if you are to have these cookies before or in between training, the size makes more sense!
