亚历山大·谢尔盖耶维奇·普希金（1799—1837），俄国著名、诗人、作家，及现代俄国文学的创始人。19世纪俄国浪漫主义文学主要代表，同时也是现实主义文学的奠基人，现代标准俄语的创始人，普希金被称为“俄国文学之父”、“俄国诗歌的太阳“。

普希金的一生是坎坷多难、辉煌壮丽的一生。他的一生是经历了爱与恨、血与火、生与死严峻考验的一生。他的一生和创作生涯可以概括为以下几个时期。
畅游书海的童年(1799—1810)
一七九九年六月六日，普希金诞生于莫斯科的德国人街（现名为鲍乌曼街）。普希金的家族是衰落贵族，其先祖的名字和这个叛逆的家族曾多次出现在俄罗斯史册中。
普希金的父亲谢尔盖·里沃维奇·普希金(1767—1840)是一位颇有文化教养的人，他喜欢文学，有时也用法语写写诗。他在某种程度上受伏尔泰思想的影响，并不是一个思想解放的人(这就是他后来和普希金思想上格格不入、矛盾日益加深的原因)。普希金的叔父瓦西里·里沃维奇·普希金是一位著名的诗人。当时，经常有一些社会名流到他家来做客，如尼·米·卡拉姆津、伊·伊·德米特里耶夫和年轻的瓦·安·茹科夫斯基等人，普希金的父亲和叔父经常和他们一起谈论有关文学方面的问题以及朗诵诗歌等，这给了年幼的普希金巨大的艺术熏陶。家中丰富的藏书也启迪了普希金的诗歌天才，唤起了他强烈的求知欲和对诗歌和文学的酷爱。普希金从童年时期就博览群书，书成了他的知心好友，读书成了他极大的乐趣。他文学创作生涯的诀窍之一——天才加勤奋，而且终其一生。他自幼就熟悉俄国十八世纪一些著名诗人的作品，而且他还特别喜欢荷马、莫里哀、博马舍、伏尔泰、拜仑及其他一些十八世纪世界级文学大师的作品。由于博览群书，再加上他才华横溢的天赋，他八岁时就写了小喜剧和讽刺法语家庭教师的短诗。
普希金的母亲纳杰日达·奥西波芙娜·普希金娜(1775—1836)也受过良好的教育，她是彼得大帝的黑人教子、俄国名将、国务活动家阿勃拉姆·彼得罗维奇·汉尼拔(1697—1781)的孙女。普希金继承了外曾祖父刚毅正直、善良多情、聪颖睿智的天性，并且一生都为其叛逆的家族和非洲黑人血统而感到骄傲和自豪。又因其父母整日出入莫斯科上流社会寻欢作乐，常年忙于社交活动，无暇关心子女的成长，把普希金和他的姐姐奥丽嘉·谢尔盖耶芙娜·普希金娜(1797—1868)和弟弟列夫·谢尔盖耶维奇·普希金(1805—1850)的教育置于一旁而不顾。普希金的启蒙教育是由经常更换的法国人担任家庭教师来完成的，这也是普希金精通法语的原因之一。
普希金自幼缺少父爱和母爱，他幼年时代乃至一生的亲人和朋友是农奴出身的乳娘阿琳娜·罗季昂诺芙娜(?—1827)和他的外祖母玛丽娅·阿列克谢耶芙娜·汉尼拔(1745—1818)。乳娘的童话、寓言、笑话及民歌，不仅激发了他对诗歌和文学的热爱，而且为他提供了创作素材以及启迪了他对农村生活和俄罗斯美丽的大自然风光的热爱和向往。外祖母讲述的亲人的故事和她那富于表现力的淳朴而丰富的俄罗斯语言，对普希金热爱和创造俄罗斯文学语言及创作生涯，也产生了巨大的影响。

普希金虽然只走过了三十八年短暂的人生旅程，虽然只有二十三年的创作生涯，却给俄国、给世界留下了极为丰富、极为珍贵的文化遗产。现在仅根据苏联科学院和苏联国家文艺出版社所出版的《普希金全集》(十卷本)的统计，他所创作的诗歌就有八万多行，加上所写文艺散文，总共将近四百万字。(近年来，在俄罗斯《普希金全集》已出版到了十八卷，究竟有多少万字，尚未完全统计)。现按诗歌和文艺散文两大类统计如下：
