Author Description

胡里奥·科塔萨尔（JulioCortázar），短篇小说大师，拉丁美洲“文学爆炸”代表人物。1914年出生于比利时，在阿根廷长大，1951年移居法国巴黎。著有长篇小说《跳房子》、短篇小说集《游戏的终结》《万火归一》《八面体》《我们如此热爱格伦达》等。1984年在巴黎病逝。

下午，我把朝着花园的那扇窗户稍稍打开了一点，好让那只手进来。那只手顺着写字台的边缘轻盈地滑落下来，它仅仅靠手掌支撑着，手指仿佛是漫不经心地张开，最后会在钢琴上、相框上，有时候也会在酒红色的地毯上停下来。

我喜欢那只手，因为它一点儿也不任性，却很像一只小鸟，或是一片枯叶。它对我也有所了解吗？一到下午，它就会毫不迟疑地来到我的窗前，它小小的身影会投射在纸上。有时候，它急急忙忙的，一副急着让我为它打开窗户的模样；还有些时候它又慢慢吞吞的，顺着一层一层的常春藤向上攀缘，在那里留下一条深深的印迹。家里养的鸽子没有不认识它的；我经常一大早就听见鸽子咕咕的叫声，叫声急切而持久，准是那只手跑到了鸽子窝那里，握住雏鸽们雪白的胸脯，或是抚摸忌妒的雄鸽粗硬的羽毛。它喜欢鸽子，也喜欢清水。有多少次我看见它趴在玻璃杯旁边，手指微微浸入水中，这时水便会开心地翩翩起舞。我从来没有碰过它。我知道，那样一来，这件神秘的事情便会就此中断。一天又一天过去了，那只手就在我的东西中间游弋，它翻开书本，打开记事簿，把食指——毫无疑问它是用食指来阅读的——放在我那些最美妙的诗篇上，逐篇欣赏。

这件事我记得一清二楚，事情很简单，没有不相干的细节。晚上八点，伊雷内在自己房里织毛衣。突然，我想点火烧水，沏壶马黛茶。我沿着走廊，走到半掩的栎树门前，朝厨房方向拐去，听见饭厅或图书室里有动静。声音很轻，听不太清，好像椅子倒在地毯上，或是有人窃窃私语。与此同时，或一秒钟后，我听见走廊尽头也有声音，走廊连着那些房间，延伸至栎树门。我赶紧向门冲去，用身体把它撞紧。幸好，门钥匙插在我们这半边，保险起见，我把大门闩也插上了。

我走进厨房，把水烧开，端着茶盘走回房间，对伊雷内说：

“我锁上了走廊门，后面被占了。”

她放下手里的活，眼神疲倦，严肃地盯着我：

“真的吗？”

我点点头。

“这么说，”她重新拿回针线，“我们得住在这半边了。”

我小心翼翼地品着马黛茶，她过了好一会儿才接着织。我记得她织的是一件灰色坎肩，那件坎肩我很喜欢。
